Warner Bros.’ Sinners led the U.S. domestic box office for the second weekend in a row, earning $42 million and holding well with only a 13% drop from its opening weekend. The film has now grossed $119.5 million domestically and $127.5 million worldwide. Its audience has shifted to a majority female (56%) and younger demographic (34% under 25), with strong diversity across racial groups. Premium formats like IMAX continue to boost its performance.
Amazon MGM’s The Accountant 2 debuted in second place with $25 million, slightly surpassing the original’s 2016 opening. The film attracted an older, predominantly male audience and earned an A- CinemaScore. Disney’s re-release of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith came in third with $21 million to $23 million, marking the best Star Wars reissue opening in the Disney era.
Warner Bros.’ A Minecraft Movie remained in fourth place with $20 million in its fourth weekend, while Sony’s horror Until Dawn opened in fifth with $7 million to $8 million but received mixed audience reactions.
The total box office for the weekend reached $139 million, the strongest April frame since the pandemic, with Warner Bros. films accounting for 44% of ticket sales.
