Two of the biggest creators may have just quietly confirmed their next Batman project, and it could be Absolutely brutal.

Absolute Batman scribe Scott Snyder recently shared a Twitter post from acclaimed artist Greg Capullo, one which appears to showcase a rough sketch of the series' titular hero. This has led to widespread speculation that Capullo will be illustrating some amount of Absolute Batman or another title in the Absolute Universe line, although it may not be what fans are expecting.

Greg Capullo's Rumored Absolute Run May Not Include Interiors

During an appearance at MegaCon Orlando 2026, Snyder opened up about his relationship with Capullo, the two of whom helped define DC Comics' New 52 initiative with an iconic run on Batman that introduced now indelible characters and concepts such as the Court of Owls. "Greg and I, we're family. We go back 15 years… that's why I would always torture you," Snyder said to his longtime collaborator.

Will Greg Capullo Create Something For The Absolute Universe?

When asked about potentially returning for an Absolute Universe run, Capullo responded, "I'm kind of feeling like I'm going to be done doing interiors, right? And I have reasons for that... So, I actually told Scott 'No,' but I recently lost my art team, my longtime art team."

"One guy I want to discuss is Jonathan Glapion, my friend, who has gone on to become an artist in his own right. I'm very proud of him. He's working on McFarlane; he's got his own thing going. And Tim Townsend did a great job doing the stuff I did at Marvel recently." Capullo went on to note during a later exchange with Snyder, "I'd do more than one [cover]. I don't mind still doing some covers."

DC Comics' Absolute Universe has been a major hit among both critics and fans alike since its debut, with Absolute Batman alone accounting for 15 of the top 31 spots on ICv2's list of the 100 bestselling comic books of 2025. Absolute Batman and its fellow tentpole titles such as Absolute Superman, Absolute Wonder Woman, and Absolute Martian Manhunter have also gone back to the presses for multiple reprints across numerous issues after selling out time and time again, firmly cementing the line's overwhelming success.

Currently, the Absolute Universe is heading towards some major developments, including its first major crossover event, which Batman, Wonder Woman, and Martian Manhunter already seem to be heading towards. DC Comics Executive Editor Christopher Conroy previously stated that the publisher is "very mindful about keeping the Absolute Universe sort of at the size it is, keeping it easy to understand, keeping it easy to onboard," even when it comes to the upcoming crossover.

Snyder also discussed the upcoming Absolute crossover, noting that it is the Absolute Martian Manhunter who ultimately "helps bring everybody together." Snyder continued, "[Absolute Martian Manhunter writer] Deniz [Camp], we're all, we're not co-writing it. It's gonna be [Absolute Superman writer] Jason [Aaron] who's writing the actual thing, but we're all plotting it together... It's like a big team effort. So Deniz is there, you know, telling his side of what Martian Manhunter will do."

Absolute Batman can be read wherever comics are found.

The cover to Batman issue #1 depicts Bruce Wayne as Batman and Dick Grayson as Robin swinging through Gotham City.
