Features Tate McFadden | August 12, 2026 Day One: Wednesday, July 22, 2026 “Preview Night” 11:00 A.M. Scott McCloud I forgot the con starts at 12:00 instead of 11:00 today so I’m sitting on the floor taking my meds reading my Agatha Christie novel (Hallowe’en Party) and people watching. Currently there’s a horny nerd couple in front of me. The boyfriend, in cargo shorts and slides with socks, is feeling his girlfriend up, right there on on the sidewalk. His hand is fully on her tits as the security guard asks if they have any questions about the con. So far, I’m shocked by how chill and calm the energy here is. I imagined hoards of frantic nerds trampling each other like some kind of costumed Black Friday but it seems a lot of people forget Wednesday is a thing for the Con. Security seems to be bouncing people between the different hall entrances.
