Sigma Comics’ Villain ‘Pig Bath’ Hunts Bad Cops Permanently

Sigma Comics is introducing a new vigilante character in its next trade paperback, CALICO: Unwanted Men, a 176-page book that launched on Kickstarter on May 1. The new character, PIG BATH, is the main antagonist in the third CALICO trade paperback, following CALICO: Street Math and CALICO: Morality Play. Sigma Comics founder and creator H.H. German said PIG BATH and the company’s flagship character, CALICO, share some traits, but differ in key ways.

“Whereas CALICO‘s war is against people who abuse animals, PIG BATH is focused on getting bad cops off the street. Permanently,” German said. He added that both characters are dark antiheroes, but PIG BATH “is definitely operating in darker territory.” German said Hector Gil, the lead character in CALICO, wants to be one of the good guys, even if his methods are extreme, while PIG BATH goes “far beyond any semblance of morality.”

German said that is why he made PIG BATH an antagonistic force in CALICO: Unwanted Men. He also said Sigma Comics is different from other comic publishers because every penny goes toward fighting animal cruelty, and the company works only with vetted charities to make sure the money goes to the stated causes.

German said Here Comes CALICO has become the best-selling independent comic book series on the North American comic convention circuit. He said the title is now selling hundreds of pounds of books at conventions across the continent.

German writes the series, while Renato Pinto and Mithun Roy handle the interior art, Garnabiel does the cover art, and Mike Baron serves as editor. The project has also drawn endorsements from David Finch, Ryan Ottley, and Jeph Loeb.

Finch called it “a great book, by great people, for a great cause.” Ottley said, “Really Great Cause! Fight Animal Abuse.” Loeb added, “Be a REAL HERO! Help save animals and you’re a superhero.”

Sigma Comics said readers can pre-order CALICO: Unwanted Men on Kickstarter now, before the campaign ends in less than two weeks.
