Sony Makes Major Move With Brand New Free Streaming Service

Sony has launched Live TV on PS5, a free, ad-supported streaming service that gives PlayStation 5 owners access to more than 100 live channels. The service went live in the United States on Aug. 31 and includes movies, television shows, anime, sports, news, weather and other programming. Players can access Live TV on PS5 through the Media tab on the console’s home screen. After selecting the service, users can sign in with their PlayStation Network account and begin watching without a separate subscription. Sony says the platform also includes a growing selection of on-demand entertainment. The launch lineup includes programming from Sony Pictures Television and other companies, including Crunchyroll, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal, FOX, the NFL Channel and UFC. Sports coverage includes football, hockey, motorsports, golf, boxing, soccer and mixed martial arts. News and weather programming includes NBC News Now, Fox Weather and LiveNOW from FOX. The movie lineup includes channels such as MovieSphere by Lionsgate, 50 Cent Action, FilmRise Free Movies, Sony One Horror Hits and Cinevault.
