The following contains major spoilers for Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe #2, on sale August 20th from Marvel Comics.

This week, Marvel released the first issue of its epic miniseries, Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe, by writer Gerry Duggan and artist Javier Gárron. CBR has a review of the issue here. Things went very poorly for the Marvel Universe in the first issue, as befitting a miniseries titled "Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe," and in a CBR exclusive preview of the second issue of the series, we see that things are only going to get worse for our heroes.

Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe #2 is from writer Gerry Duggan, artist Javier Gárron, color artists Jesus Aburtov and Andrew Dalhouse, and letterer Travis Lanham, and we see that the Venom symbiote will come into play against the giant monster, just like it did when Spider-Man faced off against Godzilla in an earlier one-shot (Marvel has been doing a series of one-shots leading up to this series, with Godzilla fighting different major Marvel characters at different points in Marvel history, like the Fantastic Four in the 1960s, Hulk in the 1970s, Spider-Man in the 1980s, X-Men in the 1990s, New Avengers in the 2000s, and Thor in the 2010s).

Spider-Man and His Alien Costume Cause Problems for Godzilla in Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1

In a CBR review of Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1, see how it used its 1980s setting to set up a free-for-all with Spidey, Godzilla, and the alien costume

In the preview pages, we see an older-looking Reed Richards with a long beard. The Baxter Building disappeared in the first issue of the series, and it is possible that Reed took them out of time and space itself so that he could study a way to defeat Godzilla.

Meanwhile, we see Venom attack Godzilla, and that does not go well for him, with Spider-Man having to save him. In the meantime, though, it looks like the Venom symbiote might be trying to bond with Godzilla.

The remaining superheroes in New York turn to the supervillains of the city, as well, as everyone needs to join forces to take on Godzilla, as this is something that transcends good or evil, it is simply a matter of "work together or die."

Finally, we see a battle-damaged Spider-Man talking with Doctor Strange, and the two heroes don't look thrilled with the chances of the Marvel Universe.

However, you'll see for sure when you pick up a copy of the second issue on August 20th.
