Star Wars' latest canonical series was designed to showcase Disneyland's Galaxy Edge area, but in doing so, the story has surprisingly revealed prequel ties to Return of the Jedi. The new story answers a burning question the original movie left unanswered.
Marvel's official solicit for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: Echoes of the Empire #4 teases danger for Han Solo and Chewbacca as they return to Batuu to help deliver the relic that Princess Leia escaped with years earlier. The fourth installment in a five-part series, the latest issue sees the story reaching its climax, with writing by Ethan Sacks and art by Roi Mercado and Jethro Morales. Per Screen Rant, the battle heats up, and Echoes of the Empire finally lets fans see who helped the Rebels gain access to Jabba's fortress in Return of the Jedi.
Star Wars Galaxy's Edge Set Up Return of the Jedi in Shocking New Issue
Earlier in Echoes of the Empire, the Rebels visited Batuu's Black Spire Outpost, set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, looking for an informant to help them save Han Solo, who was left hanging on Jabba's wall. Darth Vader soon arrived and complicated matters, looking for his own Jedi relic in a nearby temple.
Screen Rant reports that it is later revealed who the Rebels' secret informant is: Oga Garra, the owner of Oga's Cantina in Black Spire Outpost. "Before you leave, there's something you should know," she shares. "I am the secret contact you were looking for."
Oga goes on to offer more details about why she would be of assistance. "I may have exaggerated a bit, but this chain code will help you. It's a fake identity. A Skiff guard named Tamtel Skreej. It'll get you inside." When asked why she would bother helping them, her response was humorous: "I have my reasons. You really going to look a gift Kod'yok in the mouth?"
The revelation becomes even more compelling when examining Oga's overall place in the Star Wars lore. When she later finds out that Jabba the Hutt has indeed died, she shares that he taught her well. With the Rebels successful in their mission and Jabba dead in Return of the Jedi, Oga utilized the methods he taught her to orchestrate his demise, setting her up to have even more power and influence on the planet Batuu.
