"Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story" Nominated for Cinema Eye Honors Audience Choice Award

Posted on November 03, 2024 by Neil Cole

The documentary film, "Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story" has been nominated for the Audience Choice Award at the upcoming 18th Annual Cinema Eye Honors which recognizes outstanding artistic achievement in nonfiction and documentary films and series.

Directed by Ian Bonhóte and Peter Ettedgui, the documentary follows Reeve's astonishing rise from unknown actor to iconic movie star, and his definitive portrayal of Clark Kent/Superman set the benchmark for the superhero cinematic universes that dominate cinema today. Following a near-fatal horse-riding accident in 1995 that left him paralyzed from the neck down, Reeve became a charismatic leader and activist in the quest to find a cure for spinal cord injuries, as well as a passionate advocate for disability rights and care - all while continuing his career in cinema in front of and behind the camera and dedicating himself to his beloved family.

The 18th Annual Cinema Eye Honors will take place on Thursday, January 9th, 2025 at the historic New York Academy of Medicine in East Harlem for its 18th Annual Awards Ceremony. The event will be live-streamed on the Cinema Eye Honors Facebook Page.
