Supergirl Original Score Available on Exclusive Collector’s Vinyl

Movies' musical scores have served an invaluable purpose, turning a great scene into an unforgettable part of cinematic history. Supergirl fans can now own the score as a unique vinyl record.

Per the official announcement, "Mutant, in partnership with WaterTower Music and DC Studios, is proud to present the premiere physical release of Claudia Sarne's original score to Supergirl." The press release notes that the vinyl features art by artwork by Bilquis Evely and is pressed on 2x140gm color vinyl. It's also important to note that the vinyl includes a printed D-side. Collectors can snag the vinyl for $40 USD, or the CD version for $15 USD.

Comic book and superhero movie scores have been loved for decades, and serve as an audio-based backbone for the stories that are being told on the big screen. Supergirl is poised to continue to build upon the DC Universe, and as DC Comics are pulled into live-action yet again, fans of the movie may be eager to listen to the score time and time again. Pre-orders for the Supergirl score on vinyl begin on Friday, June 26 at 10AM PT/1PT CT.

What Have Critics Said About Supergirl?

Highly-anticipated Supergirl reviews have begun to take off across the internet, where film critics and fans alike have been able to share their true thoughts about the movie with the rest of the web. An immense amount of pressure has been put on the DC Studios team as they continue to re-imagine DC Comics for a new era of superhero storytelling. "Supergirl, while perhaps attempting to show off a little more attitude than other DCU films in recent years, is still about what all good superhero movies are about: daring to hope in the face of crushing loss, and daring to look the powerful in their face and fight even when the odds are mounted against you. Even more, it's about daring to feel your pain rather than run away from it, to let it breathe and be a part of you, if only so that the pressure of pushing it down doesn't ultimately break you," CBR's Chris La Vinga writes.

Unfortunately, not everyone will walk away from Supergirl carrying the same sentiment, though there is a want for more women-led feature films in the DC Universe. "Despite flaws, Supergirl is a fantastic film and one that solidifies the newly rebooted DCU's strength as a franchise. It also signals that [James] Gunn can be a bit more hands-off with a project without any drop in quality," Theresa Lacson writes for Collider. "Supergirl is as effervescent and colorful as Superman, but offers a cosmic twist that sheds away the extra baggage that comes with centering a story on Earth and takes the opportunity to truly develop this new version of the character. Unsurprisingly, Supergirl also has its fair share of needle drops, which adds to the rhythm and pace of the film. However, Claudia Sarne's score also deserves some recognition as it dominates some of the most emotionally satisfying scenes."

Supergirl soars into theaters on June 26, which is the same date on which the vinyl can be pre-ordered through Mutant.
