While every member of the team is more than ready to leap into action, not all of them are bound for this particular mission. The history of Kwannon and the mantle of Psylocke is one of the most complex and frequently convoluted in the history of Marvel Comics. By the time Kwannon's likeness was first glimpsed in the pages of 1989's Uncanny X-Men #256 by Chris Claremont and Jim Lee, Betsy Braddock had already been operating under the code name of Psylocke for years. It wouldn't be for another three years before Kwannon would get a chance to make her own proper Marvel Comics debut, yet even then it was not as herself.
Originally, Kwannon operated under the code name of Revanche, all while operating within Betsy Braddock's physical form. This came as a result of a body-swapping plot concocted by the villainous Spiral, and left Kwannon fully convinced that she truly was Betsy Braddock. For years afterward, she and Betsy resided in one another's bodies, leading to a great deal of confusion not just for casual readers, but for the characters themselves at numerous points. It wasn't until after Betsy Braddock's death that she and Kwannon were given the chance to be reborn in their original physical forms in the pages of 2018's Hunt for Wolverine: Mystery in Madripoor #4 by Jim Zub, Thony Silas, and Leonard Kirk.

X-Men
Since their debut in 1963, Marvel's X-Men have been more than just another superhero team. While the team really hit its stride as the All New, All Different X-Men in 1975, Marvel's heroic mutants have always operated as super-outcasts, protecting a world that hates and fears them for their powers.
Key members of the X-Men include Professor X, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Wolverine, Iceman, Beast, Rogue, and Storm. Often framed as the world's second strongest superheroes, after the Avengers, they are nonetheless one of Marvel's most popular and important franchises.
