This Day in Comics: Blink Debuts in Marvel Comics’ Uncanny X-Men #317 On August 2, 1994, Marvel Comics introduced readers to Clarice Ferguson, better known as Blink, in Uncanny X-Men #317. Released as part of the Phalanx Covenant crossover, the issue placed Clarice among a group of young mutants abducted by the Phalanx. Frightened by both her captors and her dangerously unstable teleportation powers, Blink entered the Marvel Universe as a vulnerable teenager whose abilities could save lives—or tear them apart. The issue carries an October 1994 cover date, while August 2 is recognized as its original release date and Blink’s comic-book debut.
