Todd McFarlane is set to bring some San Diego Comic-Con 2026 exclusives to fans around the world in an exciting new deal with the marketplace Whatnot. Official merchandise will make its way to the platform next week, ahead of the convention.
In a press release from Todd McFarlane Productions, the deal with Whatnot will begin July 9th and sees the official McFarlane-signed SDCC exclusive comic release offered via the online platform, allowing collectors to secure this year's limited-edition variants without needing to attend the convention in person. Two highly collectible covers will be available, highlighting McFarlane's collaboration with acclaimed artist Artgerm. The first cover will be Artgerm's original piece, with a second featuring McFarlane's signature inks over top of it and blending their styles together. Both books are signed by McFarlane.
Todd McFarlane Gives Fans Worldwide the Chance to Snag His Epic Artgerm Collaboration
The press reveals that the covers are limited to just 750 sets, and it will be offered exclusively as a signed collector’s set featuring one Artgerm cover and one special Todd McFarlane-inked cover, both signed by McFarlane. Availability will be exclusively through a Whatnot live show, while supplies last.
"I had a great time collaborating with Artgerm on these two highly limited books," McFarlane shared. "One with full paints by Artgerm, and the other I tried to turn the painting into a more traditional pen and ink illustration."
McFarlane went on to talk about how his additions transformed the piece. "I think the two books have very different looks, even though it is using the same imagery at the beginning. With only 750 sets, these will be hard to acquire in the aftermarket, and I will be signing BOTH editions, so you will get two autographs from me in each set."
For McFarlane, it was important to give fans the chance to secure their copies, whether they were able to attend the convention or not. "More importantly, I wanted to give those fans who do not have the opportunity to attend the San Diego convention the same chance to get these books as everyone else. We have wonderful fans scattered across the globe and want to make these types of books available to them as well."
More McFarlane exclusives also appear to be on the way with Whatnot. The press release teases that the upcoming July 9th live show marks the beginning of a new series of Todd McFarlane Whatnot exclusive releases. "Throughout the remainder of the year, fans can expect additional live show events featuring limited-edition comics available only through Whatnot, with each release offering its own exclusive comic and limited print run."
Fans can secure their copies of the SDCC exclusive collector’s set during the Todd McFarlane Whatnot live show on July 9, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM PST. The sets are priced at $200 + shipping, with a limit of five sets per customer.

The press release also revealed that, unlike previous years, these SDCC exclusive sets will not be available for purchase from Todd McFarlane Productions during the convention.
"By making the books available through Whatnot ahead of the convention, fans who secure a collector’s set through the live show are expected to receive them in time to bring them to San Diego, where they can seek out Artgerm’s signature during the show," the press release added. Those who are looking to get their hands on the set are encouraged to bookmark the Whatnot show and receive event notifications ahead of its release so they can secure their copies.
Todd McFarlane's first Whatnot live show will take place on July 9, from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM PST.
