Jason is an award-winning journalist whose writing career dates back to when he developed the ability to use a crayon. He, most notably, worked previously as a "professional fan," as he likes to call it, at CinemaBlend, for which he wrote about anything and everything under the pop culture umbrella... especially Batman. His passion for the art of cinema began even earlier, stemming from repeat viewings of The Wizard of Oz.
This initially led him to pursue a career in filmmaking -- and even work briefly in the industry as an extra in the straight-to-video family film, Alice Upside Down -- before deciding that his talents would be better served discussing and showing appreciation for the various forms of entertainment he is passionate about.

Comic book readers love to show their enthusiasm for the stories the medium tells beyond just reading them by collecting related merchandise. However, one of the most fun, and even potentially profitable, ways to extend their active participation in superhero lore is by collecting trading cards.

The trading card industry has experienced a significant boom in the last few years, not just from collectors seeking the most valuable cards honoring celebrity athletes, but even among those with an affinity for characters belonging to, say, Marvel Comics. Speaking of, the publisher has re-teamed with Topps to present a new set that is a must-have for trading card maniacs and comic book obsessives everywhere.

A New Topps Chrome Marvel Comics Card Set Is Available

On July 1, Topps released its new 2026 edition of its Chrome Marvel Comics trading card set. This 200-card base set features a showcase of striking imagery depicting some of the most beloved heroes and fearsome villains in the comic book publisher's 87-year history.

Highlights of the set include cards that showcase some of the most iconic moments from the Marvel Universe and even more modern events and storylines under the "One World Under Doom" subset. There are also specialty items created with Chrome technology that give them a uniquely sleek finish, as well as special chase cards, such as collector's items featuring the signatures of world-famous creators like Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, and even celebrity fans like Steve Aoki and Seth Meyers.

There are multiple options for purchasing the 2026 Topps Chrome Marvel Comics set, with individual packs on sale that carry quantities of four, six, or seven cards each. There are also value boxes that vary in quantity, including the Hobby Box that carries 12 six-card packs or the Value Box, which carries eight packs containing four cards each.

Topps is a leading manufacturer of trading cards and other collectible items that was founded in 1938, and has a history with Marvel Comics that dates back to the mid-1970s when they released a set of stickers featuring popular characters like Captain America and the Hulk. The company would later reacquire the global license to put out official products related to the comic book publisher in 2025, which was a year after the company released its first Chrome Marvel Comics card set.

Topps Chrome Marvel Comics Artist Original Cards Are One Of A Kind

Perhaps the most exciting selling point about the 2026 Topps Chrome Marvel Comics set is the Artist Original cards. While the set boasts cards with plenty of amazing original artwork from creators like Bella Rachlin and Lucio Parrillo, the items in this subset are what collectors should really be eager to chase after.

In fact, what makes the Artist Original subset particularly special is that the fully original illustrations are hand-drawn directly onto each card, unlike the typical process of printing a design onto the material. Therefore, there is no denying that these cards live up to their one-of-one cards distinction, which means that there are no others like them in existence.

Some of the 41 Artist Original cards in the 2026 Topps Chrome Marvel Comics release come from two living legends in the world of comic book art, Adi Granov and Kevin Eastman. The Bosnian-American Granov is known for helping design the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Iron Man armor, which led him to work on an unfinished comic written by Jon Favreau called Iron Man: Viva Las Vegas.

Eastman has contributed to Marvel Comics in more recent years, such as with the publisher's run of Conan the Barbarian, which launched in 2020. However, he is best known for co-creating the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise with Peter Laird in 1984.
