Trailer Watch: Marvel Previews ‘Thunderbolts’ & ‘Captain America: Brave New World’

1 week ago 7

We’re just three months from the February 14th release of Captain America: Brave New World and Marvel Studios has released a new trailer while at D23 Expo Brazil, along with a trailer for Thunderbolts.

The most anticipated of the two films features Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, the new Captain America, and Harrison Ford taking over the role of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, the new American President. The film is a return to the thriller feel that made Captain America: The Winter Soldier such a hit and shows us a building international story that brings together the long missing Samuel Sterns aka the Leader (Tim Blake Nelson) and answers the question of what’s going on with the giant Celestial sticking up out of the ocean from the Eternals.

Captain America: Brave New World | Official Trailer

A spiritual sequel to the 2008 MCU movie Incredible Hulk, the film not only brings back Ross and Sterns but will also bring back Betty Ross (Liv Tyler) and introduce us to the Red Hulk. The movie also stars Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, Carl Lumbly, Giancarlo Esposito, and Danny Ramirez.

Lots of moments in that trailer make me wonder if Sam Wilson got a hold of some super soldier serum, because he takes a hit from a hulk, lands on the ground with incredible speed without hurting himself, and several other moments. What are your thoughts?

Marvel also released a new clip and trailer for the upcoming Thunderbolts* film.

Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts* | D23 Brazil Special Look | In Theaters May 2, 2025

In this clip, there’s a scene that has Red Guardian (David Harbour), Yelena (Florence Pugh), John Walker (Wyatt Russell) and Ghost (Ava Starr) traveling in a red limousine through the desert when a convoy of military vehicles start shooting at them. The convoy is then attacked by Bucky (Sebastian Stan) who takes them out easily and then he takes out the limo as well. From there we see that Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Loius-Dreyfus) and the CIA are the ones who bought Avengers Tower, which she’s quite pleased with. We see a lot of action, most of which makes Bucky look bad-ass, but the one thing that people are talking about is just how little Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko) appears in the scenes, leading speculation that the character may end up being killed off pretty early or she isn’t actually part of the team.

The film will be in theaters May 2nd, 2025.
