A S.H.I.E.L.D. agent named Mavis Trent decides to act as a double-agent, bristling (with good reason) under the rule of Normal Osborn. She takes on a new identity as Payback and forms a team of subversives. They expose cover-ups, anti-American activities, etc., all directed by Osborn.
The through line involves Trent’s father, who was unjustly fired for being a whistleblower, but when that storyline is resolved and the series ends, we get a “The End” with a question mark.
I could go into more detail but…Why? This team and its members are never seen again, and the series simply wasn’t very good.
There are some fun ideas (especially a story about a cover-up involving Reed Richards driving drunk), but they never really go anywhere.
