Two-Fisted Tales #35 |
Two-Fisted Tales v1 #35, 1953 - The Civil War is featured in this special EC issue, starting with a stunning cover by
Jack Davis. Nearly perfect in design, it conveys a hope soon to be shattered. Wally Wood chronicles the Union's push down the Mississippi River toward its ultimate goal of capturing New Orleans. Nighttime scenes make up the majority of panels, yet the artist maintains a phenomenal level of detail and clarity. Artillery fire between Yankee fleets and Confederate forts is painstakingly drawn, while devoid of dialogue or narration. Wood's artwork is as decisive as the historical battle he depicts. This story was later reprinted in Two-Fisted Tales v2 #18. Other artists in this issue include John Severin and Reed Crandall. This is 17 of 18 Two-Fisted Tales issues by Wood. /// select Davis cover / Wood gallery
