Warner Bros. Game of Thrones’ Movie Gets Frustrating Update

Warner Bros. has confirmed that its first theatrical Game of Thrones spinoff is still a long way off. The studio placed Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest on its slate for 2027 and beyond, signaling that fans should not expect the movie anytime soon. The update came in Warner Bros. Discovery’s second-quarter shareholder materials released Aug. 6. The company said it plans to build its movie slate around major franchises after 2027, naming Aegon’s Conquest alongside The Matrix, the next The Batman film, and a planned The Jetsons movie starring Jim Carrey. Warner Bros. did not announce a release date. The studio first revealed the project at CinemaCon in April. Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest is a working title, and Warner Bros. has said little about the film’s plot. Beau Willimon, who worked on Andor and created House of Cards, is writing the screenplay. The movie is expected to follow Aegon I Targaryen, the ruler known as Aegon the Conqueror. In George R.R.
