In the classic 1986 The Transformers the Movie, there is a scene where the Autobot Hot Rod admonishes the Decepticon Galvatron by telling him that a Decepticon could never open the matrix that hung around his neck. Galvatron replies with a line that I will always remember because it’s how I view many aspects of my political awareness.
Galvatron replies to Hot Rod’s admonishment with:
“Like it or not, we are allies now, against a common foe!”
So True GalvatronI say all this because views of the Daily Wire have changed in the past few years. While most right-of-center people came together to get Trump elected in 2024, there has been fissures in the alliance ever since the night he won, and many no longer appreciate their content for various reasons.
However, when I see their trailer Run Hide Fight: Infidels, I am reminded of Galvatron’s response: like it or not, we are allies now against a common foe.
The synopsis of Run Hide Fight: Infidels is:
When radical Islamic terrorists hijack a liberal college’s pro-Palestine encampment to enforce barbaric Sharia law on students and execute infidels in a makeshift caliphate, a ragtag band of red-blooded students, a security guard tired of ‘Uncle Tom’ smears, and a Delta Force vet must arm up to save their clueless peers and keep America from surrendering to the enemy on its own soil.
That’s a fascinating premise that could make for an interesting movie. While not a direct sequel, the movie is in the same vein of the first Run Hide Fight movie, where a school was taken over by thrill-killers who wanted to live-stream their school shooting. It also marks the return of Jonathan Majors, the one-time face of the Marvel phase 4 as their main villain Kang, until his precipitous fall from grace due to personal issues.
Of course, originating from Daily Wire makes Run Hide Fight: Infidels highly partisan, and I’m okay with that. After witnessing what is happening in Europe and even closer to home in New York City, Dearborn, Michigan, and parts of Texas, eventually those of us right of Bernie Sanders will realize that the enemy are not each other. Although we have differences, they are minor compared to our common foes.
But a bit of advice for the Daily Wire. Although gaining subscribers is a lofty goal, if your objective is to really affect change in the American public, you have to eventually allow this movie to be seen outside the Daily Wire + paywall. Just look at the awareness Citizen Vigilante was able to bring to migrant violence against native Europeans by allowing their film to be seen on bigger platforms.
Just a thought.
