Over a decade ago, two of the most popular female heroes in the world of independent comic books, Witchblade and Vampirella, had a memorable trilogy of crossovers (back when Vampirella was published by Harris Comics). However, it is important to note that those three crossovers were all specifically Vampirella/Witchblade crossovers. When it was Image (Top Cow Productions)'s turn to team the characters up, it did not do a Witchblade/Vampirella, choosing instead to do MULTI-character crossovers (Witchblade /The Magdalena/Vampirella and Tomb Raider/Witchblade/Magdalena/Vampirella).

Therefore, CBR can exclusively announce that this August, for the first time ever, we will finally see a Witchblade/Vampirella comic book one-shot! Hot off of the success of Superman and Spider-Man returning to cross over with each other decades after THEIR first team-up, now Waitchblade and Vampirella are back in business over two decades after they last teamed up! Marguerite Bennett and Laura Braga will be the creative team on the first crossover one-shot from Top Cow Productions/Image Comics and Dynamite Entertainment, while Erica Schultz and Valentina Pinti will be handling Dynamite Entertainment's one-shot later in September.

What is the solicitation for the crossover event?

Detective Sara Pezzini is no stranger to things that go bump in the night, but she gets more than she bargained for when a mutated vampire comes to town, wreaking havoc. With no hope for an end to the bloodshed and terror, lucky for Sara, an expert in all things Nosferatu is hot on its trail – the legendary Vampirella! But with Sara infected from the mutant bloodsucker's bite, will Vampi stake first and ask questions later?

Two titans of comics clash in this oversized issue featuring two comics icons who must work together to battle a terror greater than themselves! From WITCHBLADE series writer MARGUERITE BENNETT (ODIN, Bombshells, Batwoman) with WITCHBLADE fan favorite artist and alumni LAURA BRAGA (Future State: The Next Batman, Captain Marvel, Dazzler) returns to bring these two warriors together in an epic one-shot!

What do the creators have to say about the momentous team-up?

In an exclusive statement, writer Marguerite Bennett noted about the crossover, “Witchblade and Vampirella go together like me and Laura Braga—our story is fun, sexy, ferocious, and full of monstrosity. Times are tough and everyone deserves a treat—including Sara Pezzini and Vampirella. ;D”

CEO and Publisher at Dynamite Entertainment Nick Barrucci added, “It's been over 20 years since Witchblade and Vampirella teamed up. The previous stories were fantastic, and we needed the right creators to ensure that we were bringing even more compelling stories to the fans. Working hand-in-hand with Top Cow, we were able to do just that. These stories will excite fans and we can't wait to get these stories into fans' hands.”

Finally, President and COO at Top Cow Matt Hawkins hyped the project up, “This is the kind of crossover that only works when everyone leans in—creatively and as partners. You’ve got two iconic characters, two publishers, and a story that doesn’t play it safe. It puts Sara and Vampirella on a collision course where trust is fragile and the consequences are permanent.”

Witchblade/Vampirella #1 is set to be released on August 26th.
