Wolverine and Deadpool Reunite for Marvel’s Next Great Team-Up - But They Aren't Alone

17 hours ago 2

The two most lethal anti-hero families in the entire Marvel Universe are finally teaming up.

In a preview for Wolverines and Deadpools #1 (by Cody Ziglar, Rogê Antônio, Guru-eFX, and VC's Travis Lanham) from Marvel Comics, fans catch the sight of a young boy named Julian being lured out of hiding by a dark, malevolent force set on introducing its unwitting victim to an ominous Royal Court. When things prove to be too far gone for the duo of Laura Kinney and Logan to do anything but chase ghosts, they know that the time has come to call in reinforcements. Unfortunately, Logan isn't sure that Deadpool is cut out for the job. Or rather, that Wade Wilson isn't, although Marvel's other Deadpool, Ellie Camacho, might be just the kind of level-headed backup that they need.

Ellie Camacho first appeared over ten years ago in 2013's Deadpool #19 by writers Gerry Duggan and Brian Posehn and artist Declan Shalvey. The daughter of Wade Wilson and Carmelita Camacho, a woman he met while working abroad, Ellie never knew her father as a baby, as he left her mother before he ever learned of her existence. In the years that followed, numerous nefarious forces honed in on Ellie as a way of getting to Deadpool, yet he and his allies were steadfast in protecting her without revealing the truth. Since then, Ellie and Wade's relationship has had plenty of strange and harrowing chapters, yet all of them ultimately led her to follow in his footsteps as the latest Deadpool.

Marvel's original Laura Kinney, better known as X-23, made her debut in 2003's NYX #3 by Joe Quesada and Joshua Middleton. A clone of Wolverine, Laura was tormented and tortured by her creators and handlers who hoped to turn her into a weapon. For more than two decades, Laura came into her own as a hero and even proved that she could help to lead the Wolverine legacy into the future by becoming a mentor to the likes of fellow clone Gabriel Kinney. Unfortunately, Laura's story eventually became too complicated for her own good, leaving her to be replaced by a near-identical Krakoan duplicate.

A Marvel insider has just given fans a conflicting report about the future of the Ultimate Universe, and they can only hope he is right.

While Laura was captured by the Children of the Vault, the rest of her teammates assumed she had been killed, and as such, a Krakoan duplicate was created to give her another shot at life. When the original Laura was freed, the fact that there were two nearly identical versions of her led to a great deal of previously unfathomable tension. To make matters worse, the original Laura, then known as Talon, was completely obliterated during a battle against the High Evolutionary, and while her consciousness was able to live on within her beloved Synch, he was ultimately forced to let go of her to fully join the fight against Orchis.
