Wyatt Russell’s MonsterVerse Prequel on Apple TV Adds to Cast

Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. have built a monster movie empire with four Godzilla and Kong films that packed theaters. Now the MonsterVerse is moving deeper into streaming with Apple TV. The franchise already launched Monarch: Legacy of Monsters in 2023, a show set in 2015 that follows two half-siblings digging into their father’s ties to Monarch, the secret group that tracks giant Titans like Godzilla and Kong. After two seasons of action, the studios are pushing the story even further back in time. In November 2025, reports revealed a new spin-off series centered on Colonel Lee Shaw’s dangerous Cold War mission. The plot takes Shaw behind enemy lines in Russia in 1984 to stop the Soviets from unleashing a Titan that could tip the balance of power. Wyatt Russell returns as the younger version of Lee Shaw, a role his father Kurt Russell played in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. The series also features Millie Brady and Pilou Asbaek in roles that have not been detailed yet.
