In an announcement made on Star Trek.com, three new five-issue Star Trek comic limited series have been revealed by IDW. Star Trek: Red Shirts, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – The Seeds of Destruction and Star Trek: Voyager – Homecoming are scheduled to arrive later this year. Here’s what we know about the three miniseries so far.
Upcoming new Star Trek comics
First up is Red Shirts. Written by Christopher Cantwell with art by Megan Levens and lettering by Jodie Troutman. The story follows the all-new crew of the U.S.S. Warren, who (the title suggests) do not fare very well. Set in the era of The Original Series, the title promises to capitalize on Dr. McCoy’s assertion that “space is disease and danger wrapped in darkness and silence.” The series begins (with several variant covers) in July 2025.
Arriving next is Strange New Worlds – The Seeds of Destruction. The series is written by Robbie Thompson (who is also working on the fourth season of the TV series on Paramount+) with art by Travis Mercer, colors by JP Jordan and lettering by Troutman. This series sees an away team comprised of Una Chin-Riley, Spock, La’an Noonien-Singh, Christine Chapel and “a new adorable robot sidekick named D6” on a mission that promises to get very strange indeed. Strange New Worlds – The Seeds of Destruction is scheduled to launch in August 2025.
And just in time for the show’s thirtieth anniversary, Voyager – Homecoming picks up with the crew of the U.S.S. Voyager just after they’ve returned to the Alpha Quadrant. This limited series is written by Tilly & Susan Bridges (who consulted on Prodigy season 2) with art by Angel Hernandez. It’s scheduled to arrive in September 2025.
