5 Shows Cancelled as NBA Basketball Takes Over NBC’s Primetime

At the same time Disney announced a new ESPN streaming service, NBC has just signed a new deal with the NBA which will take up quite a few of the primetime slots. In the wake of the news, NBC announced the cancellation of five current shows including:

Suits LA – the spinoff of Suits which won’t be returning for a second season.

Found after its two seasons, though it may be shopped to another network.

Night Court – The revival ended after three seasons.

The Irrational – Axed after two seasons.

Lopez vs. Lopez – The comedy starring George Lopez and Mayan Lopez ended after three seasons.

Another major announcement during NBCUniversal’s Upfront presentation on Monday that six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan will join NBC Sports’ coverage as a special contributor this fall.

“I am so excited to see the NBA back on NBC,” Jordan said in a statement. “The NBA on NBC was a meaningful part of my career, and I’m excited about being a special contributor to the project. I’m looking forward to seeing you all when the NBA on NBC launches this October.”

Of the cancelled shows, perhaps the biggest surprise was the freshman legal drama Suits LA which starred Stephen Amell and Josh McDermitt which was getting help by visits from Suits alum like Gabriel Macht and Rick Hoffman. The other shows canceled all had at least two season to find an audience while Suits LA was axed before the first season was completed.

Were you watching any of these cancelled shows? Me neither.
