Video game developer Paradox Interactive and publisher Dren Productions have just announced an exciting new partnership. Paradox's popular sci-fi exploration game Stellaris will soon receive its very own graphic novel series.
According to a press release shared with CBR, the novels will "explore original stories, civilizations, political conflicts, cosmic mysteries, and deep-space adventures inspired by the beloved game’s expansive universe."
Licensing manager at Paradox Interactive Melissa Skogman expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating: "We are delighted to partner with Dren Productions to bring Stellaris to life in a new line of original graphic novels." The three-year licensing agreement states that Dren Productions, an independent comic book and graphic novel publisher known for specializing in horror, sci-fi, and fantasy series, will be producing the comics.
Paradox Interactive and Dren Productions Team Up For Stellaris Graphic Novel Series
Paradox InteractiveDren Productions publisher, Michael Dolce, also voiced his excitement about bringing the Stellaris video game series to life in a new way, explaining, "Stellaris is one of the richest science-fiction sandboxes ever created. The possibilities inside this universe are nearly limitless." With an abundant sci-fi universe that has been growing since the video game's debut in 2016, there is no shortage of content available for the Stellaris novels to expand upon.
The first original graphic novel in the series will be entitled Stellaris: Earthfall and will be written by Michael Dolce and James Mascia, with illustrations provided by Ricardo Silva and Anton Polkhovsky. Stellaris: Earthfall will be a part of Dren Production's new DREN Prestige line, an imprint focused on high-quality, dynamic storytelling.
The Rich World of Stellaris Provides Ample Content to Explore in Comics
Many other beloved franchises, like Borderlands, Call of Duty, and Life Is Strange have received comic series and graphic novels that build upon the lore previously established in their respective games. These comic projects give fans deeper insight into the characters and storylines they have grown to love, and soon, Stellaris will be among them.
As Skogman states, "There are countless stories within this universe that are waiting to be explored, and the comic medium opens a whole new way for both longtime fans and newcomers to discover them.” The graphic novels are not only designed to appeal to longtime Stellaris players, the novels will also enrich the foundation the Stellaris game laid with fresh stories, introducing the long-standing franchise to new fans for the first time. Dolce's goal with DREN Prestige is to convey "stories that feel cinematic, intelligent, emotional, and epic in scale — stories that both longtime Stellaris fans and newcomers can immerse themselves in," and the Stellaris novels are set to become a pivotal part of that phenomenon.
More information and a release window for Stellaris: Earthfall will be shared in the coming months.
