A New Era of Spider-Man Noir Begins With a Legend at the Helm

Spider-Man Noir was a standout character in the hit Spider-Verse films, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and he is about to star in his own live action TV series on MGM+ starring Nicolas Cage. Now, in a CBR exclusive announcement, we are happy to reveal that Spider-Man Noir is returning to the world of comics, as well!

Marvel will be releasing a brand-new Spider-Man Noir series in October, and it will be written by a surprising classic Spider-Man creator, as Erik Larsen, who was one of the best-selling Spider-Man artists of all-time after he followed Todd McFarlane on Amazing Spider-Man, and who also followed McFarlane as the writer/artist on Spider-Man before leaving Marvel to found Image Comics in 1992, is returning to the Spider-Man mythos with this new series, which will be drawn by Andrea Broccardo.

What does Erik Larsen have to say about the Spider-Man Noir project?

Marvel released the following quote from Larsen about the new series, “I’ll be honest, when Nick [Lowe] contacted me about writing Spider-Man Noir, I was very much blindsided by the suggestion, but Nick was convinced I would be a good fit. But it was a bit like hearing, ‘You know that girl you’re crazy about? --Turns out that she has a sister.’

I had only known the character from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse but I quickly got caught up to speed on his comic book adventures. And I got it. I saw what Nick saw. I couldn’t get the idea out of my head. I couldn’t shut off that part of my brain that keeps coming up with new and exciting stories and characters.

So, here I am—back on Spider-Man after more than three decades, only this time, with an opportunity to start fresh and create his whole world.”
