 Paradiso #1.

Marvel Comics' Alien comic book series explores an all-new side of the Alien Universe in an upcoming limited series. A new preview of Alien: Paradiso shows the Xenomorph terrorizing a luxury beach resort.

The new comic book takes the iconic Alien villain out of its usual home in the deepest parts of space, with writer Steve Foxe and artists Edgar Salazar and Petr Nguyen exploring the character as it goes on the hunt in an idyllic beachfront setting. ComicBook.com recently shared a first look at Alien: Paradiso which shows a man fleeing as the Xenomorph stalks him, eventually catching its prey. Other pages show a rare new point-of-view directly from the Xenomorph's perspective as it gets ready to hunt its newest victims. Alien: Paradiso #1 goes on sale Dec. 11.

Marvel reveals a new cover for the upcoming issue of Scarlet Witch that shows Aubrey Plaza's Rio Vidal from Agatha All Along.

Marvel's solicit for the series teases that the Alien's victims may not be as innocent as they appear. The press release for the series hints that the vacationers visiting the luxury beach resort are "far from innocent" and that the story is full of "corruption, greed and horror" in addition to the blood and carnage.

The series will also see two new characters introduced to the Alien franchise as they try and bring law and order to Paradiso before getting caught up in the Xenomorph's rampage, with Marvel saying: "Paradiso is a hidden gem among the colonies with its tropical climate, white sand beaches and a remarkable population of hyper-wealthy criminals. When Colonial Marshals Dash Nanda and Lydia Reeves are sent there to bust a smuggling ring, they think they’ve hit the job-assignment jackpot. But the only ones getting lucky here are those hungry enough to take what they need."

New Alien Comics Stay Faithful to Original Film's Fundamentals

The Alien franchise recently expanded with the new film Alien: Romulus, but Paradiso writer Steve Foxe mentioned in Marvel's press release that his new limited series takes its inspiration from the original 1979 Alien film that launched the franchise. "With Romulus taking the franchise back to its roots in many respects, I wanted to make sure we were offering readers a story they couldn’t find anywhere else," he said. "Setting our tale on the sun-kissed shores of a high-end beach resort populated by underhanded criminals, undercover marshals, and underpaid employees immediately spun us in a new direction."

Alien: Paradiso aims to capture the feeling of terror that the original film was able to evoke. "[A]s someone who considers Alien perhaps the most perfect film of all time, I hewed very close to the fundamentals of what I found so horrifying in the first place: a small group of people out of their depth, stalked by an unknowable threat in a contained location," Foxe continued. "Edgar, Peter, and I are working to bring you the Alien you know, love, and fear, but in a way you’ve never seen before. Pull up a beach chair and watch out for the acid splash."

Alien: Paradiso #1 goes on sale Dec. 11 from Marvel Comics.
