The trailer for Blade Runner 2099 is out, and yeah, something is clearly off. This version flips the core idea and says humans are now second class while replicants run everything. That might sound bold on paper, but it trashes what made Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049 work. Those films thrived on moral gray areas. This looks like it picked a side and dumbed it down. Go back to the original with Harrison Ford, and think about what Rutger Hauer did as Roy Batty. The guy didn’t want power. He wanted more life. He wanted meaning. That final speech still hits because it’s human. Then Blade Runner 2049 with Ryan Gosling and Ana de Armas kept that same question alive. What does it mean to be real. What does it mean to feel. This new show tosses that out for a basic uprising story we’ve already seen in The Matrix and Terminator. It feels lazy. Take a look and judge for yourself.
