Anime Expo 2025 attendees got the news they’ve been waiting for: Reincarnated as a Sword is officially returning for a second season, and it will stream exclusively on HIDIVE in Fall 2026. The announcement was made during NBC Universal’s industry panel, where the new teaser visual and updated logo were revealed for the first time.
Based on the light novel and manga series by Yuu Tanaka, Reincarnated as a Sword originally premiered in late 2022 and quickly earned praise for its heartfelt storytelling, dynamic visuals, and unique twist on the isekai genre. The series has since maintained a loyal fanbase and is often ranked among the top isekai titles of all time.
“We’re excited to reveal that Season 2 of the hit isekai Reincarnated as a Sword will return next year and stream exclusively as part of HIDIVE’s Fall 2026 simulcast season line-up,” said HIDIVE President John Ledford. “The series’ popularity and fandom have never waned since it first aired, and will undoubtedly grow even further when Season 2 premieres.”
The story follows a man reincarnated not as a hero or sorcerer, but as a sentient sword. After being discovered by Fran, a runaway girl fleeing slavery, the pair form an unlikely but powerful team. With his guidance, Fran overcomes her oppressors and begins a journey to free others and seek justice.
The anime adaptation is directed by Shinji Ishihira, written by Takahiro Nagano, and produced by studio C2C. The original light novels (illustrated by Ruroo) and manga (illustrated by Tomowo Maruyama) are published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment.
Season 2 of Reincarnated as a Sword joins HIDIVE’s growing lineup of exclusive simulcast titles for 2026.
