Black Cat and Mystique Lead This Year's Giant-Sized Pride Issue

Marvel Comics is putting Mystique and Black Cat in the middle of this year's Pride spotlight.

In a press release from Marvel Comics, fans can get their first look at this year's upcoming Marvel Voices one-shot for Pride month, Marvel United: A Pride Special #1. This upcoming anthology issue will feature stories from some of the biggest names in the industry today. Better yet, the issue will feature stories starring some of the most iconic Marvel characters of all time, including the shapeshifting mutant Mystique and the ever-lucky Black Cat.

While last year's Pride special from Marvel comics explored and celebrated the marriage between Mystique and Destiny, this year is set to uncover a whole new chapter of their decades-long romance. Written by Wyatt Kennedy and illustrated by artist Bayleigh Underwood, the upcoming story will focus on Mystique and Destiny's lives as parents. As such, fans can expect their favorite mutant teleporter, Nightcrawler, to make an appearance alongside the rest of his overtly dysfunctional family.

The issue will also showcase Felicia Hardy, better known as the Black Cat, in a story from writer Zoe Tunnell and artist Federica Mancin. Described as being set during a "heist gone haywire," this story will see the Black Cat teaming up with an unlikely ally in the form of Sera. Together, the two will take on one of the most underrated and overpowered threats that the Marvel Universe has to offer in the form of the demonic Fear Lord known as D'Spayre.

X-Men Just Introduced The Most Powerful Character In Marvel History

Marvel has just introduced a brand new mutant who might just be the most powerful character of all time - and there's no telling what she can't do.

Readers can also look forward to stories starring Aaron Fischer, better known as the Captain America of the Railways. He will be teaming up with the mutant hero Escapade to take on none other than the Hate Monger in a story from critically-acclaimed writer Al Ewing and artist Kei Zama. The star-spangled action continues with a story starring Steve Rogers' longtime friend Arnie Roth, who joins the original Captain America in a fight for the future of the world at large, all set against the background of the Second World War. This Arnie-centric story will be written by Anthony Oliveira and is illustrated by Pablo Collar.

Beyond that, Oliveira and Collar's work on the Avengers Academy Infinity Comic is set to come to comic book stores everywhere for the very first time with the release of Avengers Academy: Assemble #1, which will include the complete Infinity Comic run all in one place.

Marvel United: A Pride Special #1 goes on sale June 11 from Marvel Comics.
