Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said on a recent podcast that the studio failed to launch its planned Blade reboot, calling the situation a major disappointment after years of development. The project began in 2021 with two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali set to star as the vampire hunter first made famous by Wesley Snipes in three films released between 1998 and 2004. The reboot was announced with strong expectations and was placed on Marvel’s release schedule more than once, shifting from 2023 to 2024 and then to 2025 before being quietly shelved. Behind the scenes, the production struggled to gain traction. Reports indicate that as many as six writers worked on the script and at least two directors exited the project during development.
