The 2023 graphic novel and art anthology Blondie: Against the Odds is celebrating Local Comic Shop Day and Blondie’s upcoming 50th anniversary with an LCSD edition, featuring a brand new dust jacket designed by Montos. This year’s Local Comic Shop Day will occur on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
“In support of Local Comic Shop Day and ahead of the spring 2026 release of Blondie’s new studio album HIGH NOON, Z2 will release an LCSD Edition of the book with a new dustjacket featuring art by rising comics superstar Montos, available exclusively at local comic shops across North America,” reads the official press release from Z2.
Debbie Harry (lead singer) and Chris Stein (lead guitarist) founded the iconic American rock band Blondie in 1974. Known as pioneers in the 1970s punk and new wave scene, Blondie has been a true global icon for over four decades, whose influence has shaped and continues to inspire the worlds of music, fashion, and art. The band’s fearless vision helped to bridge the underground punk scene and mainstream pop, with their first chart-topping rock–disco hit “Heart of Glass” in 1979. Selling over 40 million albums worldwide, they have secured their place in music history and earned an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.
However, Blondie’s story is far from over. In Spring 2026, they are slated to release their 12th studio album, High Noon, which is currently in the works. The album will be their first new album since 2017’s Pollinator, and follows the 25th anniversary reissue of No Exit, out October 30, 2025, via BMG.
Blondie frontwoman Debbie Harry shared, “One of the things that brought us all together as a band was comics and comic art. No matter how you slice it, Blondie has its roots deep into the genre.”

Blondie: Against the Odds kicks off with a surreal and phantasmagoric interpretation of the oral history of the band, presented by Jimmy Palmiotti, Amanda Connor, and Montos. This introduction to the formation of the band is followed by a murderer’s row of artists and writers who provide 15 illustrations and 15 stories, interpreting 15 songs from the band’s seminal catalog, followed by an essay by rock historian Victor Bockris exploring both the formative years of Blondie as a band trying to survive in the tough streets of NYC, to a band with massive cultural impact.
The Blondie: Against the Odds creative team consists of Montos, Jimmy Palmiotti, Amanda Connor, Church Chuckry, Paul Mounts, Colleen Coran, Wendy Wright-Williams, J.H.
