In a surprise reveal during a special 30-minute preview screening, Brazilian entertainment outlet Omelete has reported that Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Angela Sarafyan (Westworld) portray Superman's Kryptonian birth parents, Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van, in James Gunn's highly anticipated "Superman" film.
The duo appears in a poignant sequence set within the Fortress of Solitude, where Kryptonian robots activate a recorded message from Jor-El and Lara, spoken entirely in their native language. The emotional moment offers fans a deeper look into Kal-El's origins and the legacy of the House of El.
Director James Gunn had previously confirmed he would reunite with Cooper - who famously voiced Rocket Raccoon in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy - during the Superman press tour. This scene marks their first live-action collaboration. Gunn also revealed that fellow Guardians alumni Michael Rooker (Yondu) and Pom Klementieff (Mantis) voice some of the Fortress's Kryptonian AI robots.
With this emotional Kryptonian sequence and unexpected casting reveal, Superman continues to build anticipation as one of the most talked-about cinematic events of the summer.
Distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, "Superman" opens in theaters and IMAX nationwide on July 11, 2025, with international markets beginning rollout on July 9.
