Hayden Christensen, known for his role as Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, is set to return as the character in the upcoming second season of the Disney+ series Ahsoka. The actor confirmed his comeback during a panel at the Star Wars Celebration event in Tokyo. Christensen first played Anakin in the 2002 film Attack of the Clones and reprised the role in 2005’s Revenge of the Sith. He later appeared as Darth Vader in the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series and made brief appearances in the first season of Ahsoka.
Christensen told audiences at Fan Expo Boston that he would be willing to return to the role again if the decision-makers within Lucasfilm want him back. “One hundred percent… I would love to, yes. If the powers that be decide that’s something they want to see, I would be there in a heartbeat,” he said.

The actor discussed the complexity of Anakin Skywalker, noting that there is still much story to explore in the character’s journey. He said that following Anakin’s transformation into Darth Vader after Episode III, there are many untold narratives about how the character reconciles his dual identity. Christensen expressed enthusiasm for exploring the more heroic aspects of Anakin in Ahsoka and looks forward to what the next season will bring.
Ahsoka season two is expected to feature more of Christensen’s character in larger roles, potentially including flashbacks, similar to how the Obi-Wan Kenobi series approached character storytelling. Lucasfilm has confirmed that Rosario Dawson will reprise her role as Ahsoka, alongside actors Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Eman Esfandi, and Christensen.
Ewan McGregor, who played Obi-Wan Kenobi and reunited with Christensen in the Disney+ series, has expressed interest in returning to that role in future projects but has not been officially confirmed to appear in Ahsoka season two. McGregor has clarified comments that sparked speculation about his involvement, explaining that he was referring to watching his wife, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who plays Hera Syndulla in Ahsoka.
The second season of Ahsoka is set to begin production soon and is anticipated to premiere on Disney+ in 2026, providing fans with further exploration of Anakin Skywalker’s character within the Star Wars universe.
