The following contains major spoilers for Daredevil #22, on sale June 4 from Marvel Comics.

The Man Without Fear's newest enemy has one power that Daredevil has no chance of overcoming on his own.

A preview for Daredevil #22 from Marvel Comics finds the titular hero standing face-to-face with his latest enemy, or rather, an old foe in a new form. As this mycelial monstrosity explains, he used to go by the name Lionsmane, although Daredevil has no interest in having a conversation. Instead, he simply wants to bring all the horror that this particular villain has wrought, even if there is no beating an anthropomorphic fungus into submission.

The emergence of the fungal threat known as Lionsmane is just the latest in an ever-expanding list of recent developments in Daredevil's life. After facing off against the demonic Beast worshiped by The Hand and returning from the bowels of Hell itself, Matt Murdock found himself enveloped in a life of penance as Father Matthew. Not long after, Matt was juggling his duties as a priest and as Daredevil, all while trying to stave off the threat of the living manifestation of his own Seven Sins.

The latest of Matt's battles against one of these Sins, specifically Wrath, led to the death of his longtime nemesis Bullseye, which shook the hero to his core. With his classic uniform tattered and stained with death itself, Daredevil was in desperate need of a change of attire. Rather than looking for new duds, however, Daredevil turned to his old black armor that he first put on during D.G. Chichester and Scott McDaniel's iconic "Fall from Grace" storyline back in the early '90s.

Marvel Comics is about to revisit one of the most important era's in the life of Captain America, and the Avengers won't be around to help him.

Apart from putting back on his old armor, Daredevil has found a change of pace by accepting a place to live from his old friend turned love interest, Nyla Skin. While this was originally going to merely be a way for Matt to recover and recuperate, it ended up opening the door to a mystery involving numerous missing persons within the very apartment building the hero now resides in. Following some initial investigating, not to mention the development of a strange fungal infection of his own, Daredevil was kidnapped by shadowy assailants and dumped in an underground holding cell with others infected by Lionsmane's spores.
