Harley and Ivy: Life and Crimes is a brand new series from DC Comics, focused on beloved Batman antagonists Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. The two have become one of DC Comics’ most popular pairings, including in adaptations such as the 2019 Harley Quinn animated series. Poison Ivy, created in 1966 by Robert Kanigher, Sheldon Moldoff and Carmine Infantino, has become one of the most popular antagonists in all of Batman’s rogues’ gallery, whilst Harley Quinn, created by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini for Batman: The Animated Series, has become a household name, one of DC’s biggest and most beloved characters. The two characters have been entwined ever since the 90’s, co-leading various comics together and eventually becoming a couple.
Thus, in response to demand, DC happily presents a brand new series entirely about Harley and Ivy’s romantic relationship. Eisner Award-winning artist and writer Erica Henderson (behind the much loved 2024 Harley Quinn annual) weaves the canonical story of how Ivy and Harley went from intial enemies, to friends, to lovers. From their first kiss to their first embrace, their first fight and more, the series is sure to appeal to fans of the popular pairing as well as fans of Henderson’s work, both on Harley and outside of DC Comics in general.
Henderson had this to say about the book to Popverse:
As a child of the 90’s, I grew up with Batman: The Animated Series. I can honestly say that I’ve been invested in Harley and Ivy as a couple since before the age of 10. To be able to tell the story of how they got together is a thirty-year dream come true. Since this is a prequel, we all know where this story will wind up- spoiler alert for the previous two sentences, they’re dating – but the fun will be in the details. Personality-wise, they’re not an obvious match, but I’m excited to explore why they work so well together.
Additionally, Henderson revealed on Bluesky that although six issues are currently listed, she’s plotted up to twelve already. Launching on November 5th, 2025, a preview of the series can be seen below, and it is now available to pre-order from all local comic shops.
