Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe - Again

Marvel unveils a huge lineup of new variant covers featuring Deadpool killing off characters like Doctor Strange, Captain America and more.

Marvel has unveiled a new series of variant covers that show Deadpool killing the Marvel Universe to celebrate the character's return to the big screen this summer in Deadpool & Wolverine. The variant covers pay homage to the popular Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe comic series, with each one showing the Merc with a Mouth leading different Marvel icons to their deaths.

The Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Variant Cover series will arrive throughout the month of July, with special covers being released for a wide variety of Marvel titles including Doctor Strange, Daredevil, Captain America, and of course, Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII. With twenty variant covers total, the new series features artwork by an all-star lineup of artists that includes Ron Lim, Paco Medina, Todd Nauck and many more. Marvel released the artwork for the entire series, with the variant covers available now for pre-order.

Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe was written by Cullen Bunn and was a four-part miniseries originally released in 2011. It has become one of the most popular Deadpool comic series of all time, with the wild miniseries taking the Merc with a Mouth and giving him a twisted horror spin as he slashes his way through Marvel's legendary roster of superheroes.

Deadpool Goes to War with Wolverine in New Series

In addition to making a guest appearance in other Marvel heroes' comics throughout July, one of the Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe variant covers is for a series in which Deadpool himself is the star: Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII. The first issue of the miniseries arrived on May 1, telling the story of Deadpool and Wolverine's epic team-up as the world is on the brink of destruction.

Deadpool & Wolverine: WWII comes from the all-star team of Joe Kelly (Deadpool, Uncanny X-Men) and Adam Kubert (Wolverine, Uncanny X-Men). The series will also introduce a mysterious new villain, Delta, who likely has ties to the Weapon Plus program. The two starring characters will also hit the big screen in Marvel Studios' Deadpool & Wolverine, set to be released in theaters on July 26.

Marvel's Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe variant covers will be released throughout the month of July.
