The first major linewide crossover of the "From the Ashes" X-Men relaunch is concluding next week in X-Manhunt Omega #1, finishing the story of Professor X escaping from Graymalkin prison as he goes to try to rescue his daugher, who is suffering a coup in outer space. Marvel’s X-Manhunt Is Reviving a Surprise Mutant
The hunt for Marvel's most wanted mutant has just uncovered a whole new mystery that calls back to the Krakoan Era's most important development.
In the preview pages, we see that Cyclops and Rogue have a major conflict over how to proceed with Professor X. Cyclops feels that Xavier's arrest was the most important thing that is keeping the rest of the world from turning on mutants overall, as Xavier is sort of the symbol of what the world feels mutants did wrong during the Krakoan Age. Cyclops, therefore, feels that it is important to see Xavier return to prison. Of course, Cyclops is also reeling from Xavier's betrayal of him in The Fall of X, where Xavier cut a deal with Orchis that involved killing a number of innocent human astronauts (as it turned out, Xavier actually faked those deaths, but no one else knows this) so that Xavier could get close enough to Orchis to defeat what Xavier felt was an even bigger threat. So he is not feeling any sympathy to his beloved teacher at the moment.
Rogue, on the other hand, feels that the X-Men should allow Xavier a chance at redemption, as she feels that they all owe Xavier too much to send him back to prison. So as the preview ends, the two main X-Men teams are on two very different sides of the equation when it comes to how to handle catching up with Xavier.
To see whether ANYone catches up with Xavier, you'll have to pick up X-Manhunt Omega #1 next week!
