EXCLUSIVE: What Happens in Alien - Paradiso, Stays in Paradiso

1 day ago 3

The following contains spoilers for Alien - Paradiso #5, due out next week from Marvel Comics.

The history of Alien has generally been one of dark hallways on ships in tight spaces as the Xenomorphs hunt the heroes in a small and tight space, and that's what Alien - Paradiso has flipped on its head. This time, it is a resort colony called Paradiso that is the home to a number of rich guests, but also some criminals (who like taking advantage of the colony's rules banning weapons, so criminals know they can talk freely with each other without being killed). Well, one group of criminals was set to make a deal with another group, a group who arrived early on the resort (where they are being spied on by a pair of colonial marshals). The arriving group, though, made a side trip to pick up some Xenomorphs, and now they land on the resort, bringing a group of Xenomorphs to terrorize the colony, and we see the start of the final battle in this CBR exclusive preview of next week's Alien - Paradiso #5!

Alien - Paradiso #5 is from writer Steve Foxe, artists Edgar Slazar and Victor Nava, additional art by Peter Nguyen, colors by Carlos Lopez, and letters by Clayton Cowles, and the art team spotlights another cool aspect of the series, where Nguyen's pages are done from the perspective of the Xenomorphs, giving the series a really distinctive look.

In the preview pages, we open with one of those Nguyen pages we mentioned, showing the Xenomorph's perspective on their journey of destruction through the colony. We then see a group of Xenomorphs huddling together.

We then cut to our intrepid group of survivors. Dash is a Colonial Marshal who just discovered that his longtime partner was secretly an android placed in the Colonial Marshals to keep an eye on everything. She was "killed" in the previous issue, but before she died, she unlocked all of the doors on the resort, hopefully allowing Dash to get to their ship and get off planet. He is paired with a bodyguard for the head criminal, who is trying to find his own way off of the island. The third person in their party if a young worker on the resort who argues that he was given a better life by being allowed to work as an indentured servant on the colony, but now he is not so sure, as the bodyguard mocks his feelings right before they all make a run for it.

Whether they make it off the planet (or if ANYone does) will be revealed in the rest of the issue, so be sure to pick it up next week!
