Image Comics has rushed its hotly anticipated title, Bug Wars, back to print after the book sold out at the distributor level before its February 12 debut. The second printing of Bug Wars #1 will hit comic book shelves on March 12.
First announced at New York Comic Con late last year, the six-issue miniseries Bug Wars "follows Slade Slaymaker, a kid from Alabama who is suddenly lost in a vicious world beyond his imagination. It is a world of marauding ant armies, spell-casting spider witches, and beetle-riding barbarians. A kingdom of tiny but deadly warriors hidden in his own backyard. The same world that saw his father eaten alive by insects, and now plunges young Slade into the middle of a brutal Bug War to decide the fate of his family." Bug Wars comes from the creative team of bestselling writer Jason Aaron (Southern Bastards, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Absolute Superman) and artist Mahmud Asrar (Conan the Barbarian, X-Men, Batman vs Robin).

Bug Wars #1 - Second Printing

Bug Wars writer Aaron praised the debut issue, which is becoming a big seller for Image Comics. "The infestation has begun and Mahmud and I are just getting started exploring the wild world of the Slaymaker family's backyard," he said. "Bug Wars #1 is one of the all-around most impressive, most comprehensively cool comic book packages I've ever been a part of in my career. And we're hoping everyone will join us in the Yard," Aaron continued. Series artist Asrar added, "Told you this book was one not to miss."
One week after the arrival of Bug Wars #1's second printing, Bug Wars #2 will debut on March 19, featuring variant covers by Yanick Paquette, Matthew Wilson, Tony Daniel, and Marcelo Maiolo in addition to Asrar and Wilson's main cover. Bug Wars #3 will grace comic book stores on April 23, also with Asrar and Wilson's main cover plus a variant cover by Adam Kubert and Laura Martin.

Another Exciting Upcoming Image Comics Release
Also hitting comic book stores in March is Image Comics’ We’re Taking Everyone Down With Us by Matthew Rosenberg. The writer teams up with fan-favorite artist Stefano Landini (Daredevil, Prodigy) for the miniseries, which will also have six issues. The story follows 13-year-old Annalise after she is left all alone in the world when her mad scientist father is killed by the world’s greatest spy. With her dead father’s robot bodyguard, Annalise must decide whether to live a normal life — or seek revenge and maybe overthrow the world in the process.
Jason Aaron and Mahmud Asrar's Bug Wars #1 is now on sale and its second printing will arrive in comic book shops on March 12, 2025.
