Sigh. This is an in-continuity comic that ties into the Iron Man 2 movie. Let’s ignore that cross-promotional piece and just look at on its merits.
Mostly, this series is a platform for the new Whiplash–from the movie.
In the comic book world, he was a humble Russian scientist named Anton Vanko who had several friends murdered by Iron Man. But of course, they were really killed by someone wearing stolen Iron Man armor. The frame-up worked, and Vanko decided to kill Tony Stark.
In the end, it’s all a plot by Vladimir Putin(!), so Vanko changes his life’s mission to go after the Russian leader.
