"It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman!" Musical Soaring to LA Theater Stage

Foster Cat Productions is proud to present a new revival of the 1966 Broadway musical, "It's a Bird... It's a Plane... It's Superman!". This delightfully campy production will open in Los Angeles for a limited engagement, offering audiences a colorful, comic-book-inspired experience that soars with nostalgia and charm.

Originally debuting on Broadway in 1966, the musical features a lively score by Charles Strouse and Lee Adams (the songwriting team behind "Bye Bye Birdie"), and a witty book by David Newman and Robert Benton. Set in the upbeat, fast-paced world of Metropolis, the show finds Superman caught in a love triangle between the career-driven Lois Lane and his own mild-mannered alter ego, Clark Kent. As if that weren't enough, the Man of Steel must also contend with the vengeful genius Dr. Abner Sedgwick, whose plot to destroy Superman involves everything from theatrical theatrics to explosive schemes. Adding to the chaos is Max Mencken, a smug gossip columnist determined to steal Lois's heart and grab a sensational scoop at Superman's expense.

Foster Cat's production embraces the musical's retro sensibility with a tongue-in-cheek aesthetic that evokes both Broadway pizzazz and comic book flair. Audiences can expect vividly stylized sets, vintage-inspired costuming, and practical effects including light haze, stage gunfire, and immersive lighting designed to accentuate the show's over-the-top tone. At approximately two hours, including an intermission, the musical offers a brisk and buoyant evening of entertainment.

The score features several standout numbers, including the cabaret favorite "You've Got Possibilities," originally introduced by Linda Lavin in the 1966 Broadway production, along with the dramatic "Revenge," the catchy "The Strongest Man in the World," and the gleefully explosive finale, "Pow! Bam! Zonk!".

Performances will take place at The Broadwater theater complex in Los Angeles, CA from Friday, August 1st - Sunday, August 3rd and Friday, August 8th - Sunday, August 10th. Audience members are encouraged to arrive at least ten minutes early, as the production features sensory effects such as fog, flashing lights, and simulated gunfire. Tickets are now available through OnStage411.com.
