Superman writer-director and DC Studios co-head James Gunn offers fans some peak comic book recommendations on social media.
As seen on Twitter, Gunn recently made a series of recommendations on social media, responding to a fan who espoused their enjoyment of titles like All-Star Superman and Batman: The Long Halloween with "10 more wonderful collections from the DC Family." Among the most recognizable titles on the list were 1986's Watchmen, Alan Moore and Chris Sprouse's Tom Strong Compendium, The Authority by Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch, and the infinitely iconic Promethea - Book One.
Gunn has been riding a massive wave of success in the wake of Superman's arrival in theaters. The film stars David Corenswet as the titular Man of Steel alongside a star-studded ensemble cast including Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen. Superman's leading hero is also joined by a whole host of other superpowered DC icons such as Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner, aka Green Lantern, Anthony Carrigan's Rex Mason, aka Metamorpho, Isabela Merced's Kendra Saunders, aka Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi's Michael Holt, aka Mister Terrific.
Following the release of Superman in theaters, DC fans have been left eagerly awaiting the next entry in James Gunn and Peter Safran's vision for the DCU, specifically the second season of Peacemaker starring John Cena. Currently set to premiere on HBO Max on August 21, Peacemaker Season 2 is expected to pick up directly after the events of Superman, and will mark the return of numerous stars form Season 1 including Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, aka Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, and Steve Agee as John Economos. Gunn himself previously confirmed that Peacemaker Season 2 will also include multiple Superman stars, with Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, and Sean Gunn all slated to reprise their roles as Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, and Maxwell Lord in the series. New episodes of Peacemaker Season 2 will premiere every Friday through to the season finale on October 9.
