Krysten Ritter is set to officially return as Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. The announcement was made during Disney’s Upfront presentation in New York, where Ritter took the stage alongside Daredevil star Charlie Cox to reveal the news.
Ritter expressed her excitement, saying, “It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and The Defenders and now joining the MCU. I’m so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!”.
This marks a major moment for Marvel fans, as Jessica Jones was one of the beloved characters from the Netflix Marvel shows, which were canceled in 2019 when Disney shifted its focus to MCU content on Disney+. With Daredevil: Born Again already bringing back Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, Ritter’s return suggests Marvel might be slowly reuniting the Defenders.
In previous interviews Mike Colter who played Luke Cage and Finn Jones who played Danny Rand both indicated they’d be interested in returning as well if asked. Of course, what working actor would say anything other than that? Is it too late to bring these characters back? Will it improve the show’s abysmal viewership numbers in any way?
