Marvel's Phases of the Moon Knight just introduced the future Hunter's Moon — and she is perfect for the role.
"The Past is Present" drops readers into the middle of the New American Wasteland of an unnervingly near vision of the future. More specifically, the story brings readers to the Museum of the American Hero, a small, desolate destination replete with all manner of superhero memorabilia. Unfortunately for the young Eleanor Johnson, the museum is also a prime target for roving, murderous raiders, and while neither she nor her parents survived the attack, Khonshu is more than willing to give her a chance to avenge them all as his latest Hunter's Moon.

Much like the mantle of Moon Knight, the mantle of the Hunter's Moon is one passed down by the ancient Egyptian Moon God, Khonshu, to various figures who lose their lives, usually to unspeakable tragedy. As the Hunter's Moon, these figures become warrior-priests, who serve as the second Fist of Khonshu. Though the mantle comes with great powers, including near-limitless resurrections, it also comes with the dire responsibility of protecting those who travel at night not just out of duty, but as a form of worship unto itself.
The first Hunter's Moon introduced in the pages of Marvel Comics was Doctor Yehya Badr, who made his debut in 2021's Moon Knight #1 by Jed MacKay and Alessandro Cappuccio. An Egyptian native, Badr excelled in his studies and quickly became a renowned doctor, one who had no room in his mind or heart for superstition. After being cut down by a pack of roving vampires before being offered a second chance at life courtesy of Khonshu, however, Doctor Badr's entire belief system was shaken to its core. Since then, Doctor Badr has served dutifully under Khonshu, proving himself to be as deadly on the battlefield as he is devout to his patron deity.

Initially, Hunter's Moon was directly at odds with Moon Knight, the latter of whom had recently given up on worshiping Khonshu in favor of leading his own Midnight Mission. Though the pair had wildly different ideals, their kinship went far beyond any religious or ethical disagreements, leading the Badr to develop a tight-knit bond with Marc Spector. The Hunter's Moon even became an important part of the Midnight Mission unto himself, and was one of those most deeply affected by Moon Knight's tragic albeit ultimately temporary demise.
