Tom Holland returns as Spider-Man on July 31, and the timing is not simple. Marvel Studios and Sony are leaning on the character to carry late summer while the wider MCU moves toward a major reset. Avengers: Doomsday arrives in December, and Avengers: Secret Wars is set for December 17, 2027. Marvel has already signaled that what comes next will be smaller in scope. That shift has put a spotlight on Spider-Man’s future. Holland remains under contract, and early tracking points to a $180 million to $190 million domestic opening for his next film. At the same time, Marvel has spent years unable to use Miles Morales in live action due to Sony’s control of the character. That situation now appears to be changing. Kevin Feige confirmed during a press stop in Shanghai that Marvel has firm plans for Miles Morales. Speaking to the Chinese outlet Watching Hollywood, Feige said a live action Spider-Man film has the “destiny” to introduce Miles after Sony completes its animated trilogy.
