The Blu-ray comes packed with new bonus features, including two commentary tracks with director Shinji Aramaki, cast interviews, and a special featurette titled Weapons of MADOX, which spotlights Japan Self-Defense Force military vehicles. Redesigned menus, modernized subtitles, and both U.S. and U.K. English dubs are also included.

Directed and conceptualized by Shinji Aramaki—later known for Appleseed, Harlock: Space Pirate, Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2045, and Blade Runner: Black LotusMADOX-01 blends high-stakes action with slapstick comedy. The story follows college student Sugimoto Kōji, who accidentally ends up trapped inside a prototype battle suit, the MADOX-01, after it falls off a truck in downtown Tokyo. What begins as a mishap quickly escalates into chaos as Kōji struggles to control the suit, faces off against hot-headed Lt. Kilgore, and risks missing his all-important date.

Metal Skin Panic MADOX-01 holds a special place in anime history. It was the very first title AnimEigo licensed for Western audiences back in 1989, marking the start of the distributor’s long legacy of bringing Japanese anime to international fans.

The Blu-ray is priced at $17.99 and is now available for preorder at MediaOCD’s website.
