Why is it that nearly every single Excalibur story is just fucking tedious? Why is it so hard to write for this team?
Anyway, this storyline pits the team against Bran “Albion” Bardic. In his reality (yes, it’s yet ANOTHER alternate reality incursion), World War One went on for 100 years (which is how it felt reading this story amirite?), he became his reality’s Captain Britain, and then he killed a whole bunch of people. In the name of righteousness.
This brought him into conflict with the Captain Britain Corps, and he killed some of them before arriving in the 616 and teaming up with Lionheart.
Eventually, New Excalibur is able to beat him up. They also kill some Shadow X-Men, which is good because that’s another alternate reality team that’s just annoying.
The series ends and everybody has a party until they realize that the series is actually reborn in a 5-issue miniseries called, “Die by the Sword.”
