With the upcoming Fantastic Four film, Fantastic Four: First Steps, set in the 1960s, Marvel has decided to tie into that concept of the Fantastic Four being in different time periods with a brand-new volume of the Fantastic Four ongoing series launching this July just ahead of the highly-anticipated film's release, with the four members of the Fantastic Four split into four very different time periods, and forced to go on solo journeys to reunite.
The new series will be written by the current writer of the Fantastic Four, Ryan North, who is also in charge of Marvel's current Fantastic Four-centric crossover event, One World Under Doom, and the series will be drawn by superstar comic book artist, Humberto Ramos, who is best known for his various Spider-Man and X-Men runs at Marvel, and this will be his first turn drawing the Fantastic Four's series.

What is the new Fantastic Four series about?

The tricky thing about promoting the NEXT volume of the Fantastic Four is that, of course, the Fantastic Four are a major part of the CURRENT crossover, One World Under Doom, so Marvel has to play some things a bit close to the vest, but the company included the following description of what will happen in the opening story arc of the new volume of the series:
Beginning during the events of One World Under Doom, also helmed by North, the Fantastic Four face Doom in a fight to save the world – until it suddenly goes catastrophically wrong, sending them to four different eras in Earth’s history! Alone and isolated in wildly different time periods, Reed, Johnny, Ben, and Sue all have to fight to survive. Their only hope is to reach the Forever Stone: a mass of dense granite that happens to be one of the longest-lasting rocks on the planet, which - through a combination of obscurity and raw geologic luck - has stayed both intact and accessible for most of Earth's history.

Marvel's first family will soon be launching into the MCU in Fantastic Four: First Steps, but the team has some secrets that many fans may not know.
What do Ryan North and Humberto Ramos have to say about the new series?
North, who has draw a great deal of acclaim for his current Fantastic Four volume (it was in the Top 100 of our recent reader polls of the all-time best comic book runs), had this to say to the Hollywood Reporter about the upcoming volume, “People often think of the FF in terms of family, and they’re not wrong, but I think there’s something really beautiful about friendship too, and we get to see that with these characters. It’s high-concept science fiction with real emotion. What’s not to like?”
The great Humberto Ramos added,“I’ve been lucky to illustrate many of the most iconic superheroes in the universe, but this book felt different from the start. The weight of history and legacy of these characters lay upon your shoulders, no matter who you are or how you’ve worked in this industry.”
Fantastic Four #1 is set to be released in July 2025.
