New Punisher Story Will Push Frank Castle to 'Uncharted, Brutal Territory'

Marvel Comics is gearing up to push The Punisher to his limits in a groundbreaking new story under its Marvel Knights banner.

The publisher announced a new comic book series that will debut this October. Set in the world of Joe Quesada and Christopher Priest's Marvel Knights: The World to Come, the new Punisher series will be helmed by Jimmy Palmiotti, the co-founder of the original Marvel Knights line, and Dan Panosian. Last month, Quesada and Priest reunited to launch their new vision for the Marvel Knights world, highlighting a bold future where heroes have fallen, and the universe is in turmoil. With its epic scope encompassing the vast Marvel Universe, fans will get the chance to see even more of the Marvel Knights worldbuilding this October with the Marvel Knights: Punisher spinoff.

Marvel's initial solicit for the first issue doesn't reveal much about the series' plot, but it teases something big for fans of the Punisher.

Palmiotti and Panosian also teased the brutal new adventure that Frank Castle will go on during the spinoff's run. "The secret behind Marvel Knights has always been creative alchemy: the perfect blend of raw talent and fearless storytelling, forged by creators who don’t flinch when things get intense," Palmiotti teased.

"Now, years later, under the iconic Marvel Knights banner that Joe Quesada and I created all those years ago, I'm writing a brand-new Punisher series that’s being lit on fire by one of the industry's most electrifying artists: the incomparable Dan Panosian," Palmiotti continued. "This is Frank Castle pushed past his limits into uncharted, brutal territory. Dan and I aren’t revisiting a legend - we’re detonating it."

Panosian went on to talk about what sets Frank Castle's journey apart from other leading comic titles.
