At NYCC ’25 this past weekend, fans got an exclusive look at season 2 of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake! Executive producer and showrunner Adam Muto and voice cast members Madeleine Martin, Roz Ryan, and Ashly Burch gave fans an exclusive sneak peek at the multiversal adventures that await Fionna and Cake when season two premieres on October 23. The ten-episode season will stream one new episode weekly through December 25.
In a world full of spin-off shows cashing in on nostalgia, Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake knocked it out of the park in their initial season in 2023. New fans are welcome to a story that stands on its own, and fans of the original Adventure Time get to see a bigger, expanded universe and cameos from Grob, Marshall Lee, Marceline the Vampire Queen, Princess Bubblegum, and Finn the Human.
“The Adventure Time fans have grown up, and people are still coming in the bottom, and they’re aging up. It felt like a perfect show for us. Tonally, it is very much Adventure Time, but Fionna’s older. She’s in the workforce. It’s more adult, so I think it’s going to bring in new fans, and it’s also going to serve the fans that we already have,” explained Max and Adult Swim executive Suzanna Makkos to CBR.
Season 1 had Fionna (voiced by Martin) and her sidekick Cake (Ryan) up with former Ice King Simon Petrikov (Tom Kenny) to travel the multiverse to find a crown to give Simon his powers back, do a little self-discovery, and bring magic back to the world of Fionna and Cake.
Season 2 has Fionna and Cake tackle new adventures while Huntress Wizard embarks on a desperate quest with fatal consequences. Check out the Beat’s interview with showrunner Muto and watch the trailer for season 2 below:
